A study in color, memory, and atmosphere.

In Chromatic Silence No. 8, Sofia Ren layers oil, dry pigment, and cold wax to create a surface that shifts between landscape and pure abstraction. Veils of mineral blue and ochre reveal fragments of earlier gestures beneath.

The work belongs to Ren’s ongoing Chromatic Silence series, begun during her 2024 residency in coastal Maine. Each painting records changes in light and weather through accumulated color rather than direct representation.
